DAECHI-KIDS

I am from Daechi, a district known for being one of South Korea's most famous education hubs. The intense focus on education in Korea is a serious issue and a persistent aspect of the social culture. "Daechi Moms" are deeply obsessed with education and often send their children to various "hagwons" (private academies/ cram school). Kids who have spent their teenage years filled with such academies are referred to as "Daechi Kids." Due to the unique crowd mentality in Korean society, it's rare to find a child who hasn't attended a hagwon, and Daechi, in particular, starts this trend from an early age.
This work is somewhat autobiographical, using the perspective of a young child to visually express the peculiar yet common and distorted reality of Korea's excessive focus on education.
